Fleet Management Application
Our client has over 25 years’ financial services and fleet experience. They speacialise in providing a mix of finance options for businesses looking to buy a new or used fleet vehicle or seeking access to leasing. The scope of services includes passenger and luxury automobiles, commercial vehicles, material handling and fleet advisory.
The Challenge
The business runs more than 600 vehicles and for all of them there is a need for exact tracking and reporting, with close to real-time data which enables prompt operational decisions and cost optimisation modeling. The information tracked includes drivers per vehicle, km per day, fuel consumption, lease payments, orders and service needed for each vehicle, and others.
Historically, the business relied on two legacy applications for that purpose. Reporting was limited, and the interface was clunky and outdated, which made the user experience far from perfect.
In addition, the organisation was looking to decrease dependencies on legacy systems and optimise the cost of running the reporting process, as well as implement a new improved workflow with new business logic.
The Solution
Qtx proposed to develop a solution using agile iterations and rapid development techniques. The first step was to build a POC in just a day to show the application functionality. Based on SQL with frontend using open-source web framework, it achieved significantly faster and better performance by removing all intermediate layers.
After closing the feedback loop and confirming that the new solution meets organisation’s key business goals, a second iteration was funded to build a modern and highly responsive user interface. The next step was implementing new and improved workflow and completing integrations with external systems, including embedding QlickView reports into the main application.
In just a few iterations the client received a new lean application performing at speed, and quick time to reporting with all data normalised, searchable and related in the background.
